Once you install acronis true image, you then make the boot CD. By far acronis is the best for doing this. I have used ghost, drive image, and acronis.

I highly recommend acronis true image for this task. You are going to have to use an app that will recognize your raid controller.

Ok it is very possible to restore an image to a raid array I do it every time I screw something up Besides, if I have to load Windows from scratch, doesn't that defeat the reason for imaging a drive in the first place? So, I don't see any reason to go there.

Now, before anyone asks why I don't just use a Windows imaging program, think about this: When a restore is necessary, short of loading a full copy of Windows before I start the restore process, how do I restore? And, I'm not even sure that would work.

Since I restore all drive images in DOS mode, how do I get the image restored to a RAID array when there are no DOS drivers for the RAID card?Īnd, using Ghost 2003 (I prefer 2003 because it is a DOS program.), how do I create the image in the first place? I'm in the process of setting up Windows XP Pro on a RAID 1 array and having gotten as far as I have and this being my first time ever, I have discovered in the process that the RAID array isn't recognized in DOS mode. I'm placing this in the hardware forum because the processes involved in creating and restoring a drive image in DOS mode has nothing to do with Windows and everything to do with getting an image restored to a RAID 1 array without the help of Windows or any Windows drivers.
